Michelangelo

Michelangelo (Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni) was an Italian artist who was part of the pre-renaissance movement. Pre-renaissance sculptors believed that art was an expression of the divine, and that a statue already existed in a rough piece of marble. The artist simply had to chip at the marble to find it.

“In every block of marble I see a statue as plain as though it stood before me, shaped and perfect in attitude and action. I have only to hew away the rough walls that imprison the lovely apparition to reveal it to the other eyes as mine see it.” Michelangelo had said.

Like pre-renaissance art, we are expressions of the divine and our true nature lies within. Life is a process of exploration in an effort to find our true selves — mind, body and spirit. On a journey of discovery, we allow ourselves to be guided by love so that our true selves are revealed the way God sees us.

The book Awakened Faith is my journey of exploration, sorting through rough unfinished material in search of spiritual and personal truth. Awakened Faith is a creative nonfiction book that shares my journey and what I have come to understand. Each chapter weaves in and out of my personal experiences, using my story and relationship with a spiritual teacher, Susan Anthony, to present concepts and tools to help others who are searching for greater truth.
